Summer Shawl

This piece was adapted from a doily pattern.

Still working on the formula for that. Hopefully better pictures to follow.

Spiders Afghan

When I was a kid, I had a gang. It was a defense mechanism more than anything else, and wasn't a gang in the sense that law enforcement means it. It was our response to the not-so-safe aspects of our area though.

A group of fantasy/scifi/theatre geeks we were...and we called ourselves the Spiders From Mars. We even had t-shirts (one of which was supposedly given to David Bowie by one of our members.)

Well, we grew up, we grew apart...it happens, but we still share a bond that I hope we never lose...

So when I found out that one of the Spiders was expecting, I naturally had to make something :D So, for our newest mini-Spider, I made my first afghan:

I can spend hours making different flowers.

They are great for using up scraps of yarn and random danglies that have been lounging in your craft supplies for years.

They also make great additions to finished pieces.

or great accessories themselves...

Some make good motifs for bigger pieces...

And some are just cute...

This hat has a matching neckwarmer, and was made from single ply wool in my own design. I think it looks rather cup-cake like.

Snood Order

A girl at the place that I work saw my brown angora snood and asked me to make her three snoods, one for her, and one for each of her sisters; in pink, blue and black. Since we agreed on a price of $30 for the total order, I stuck with mostly acrylics but added a little something special to each piece.

First is the black one:

I added a small burgundy flowerlet with leaves made of sock yarn.
Here is the flower in more detail:

I was really happy with how this came out:

This piece would probably cost about $12 before shipping.

Look out for the other two.

Apologies

Sorry everyone!

I didn't realize the link to the Etsy shop was borked.

Its fixed now, but at the moment I have nothing listed. If you are interested in something you see here, feel free to comment and we can go from there.

Ordering/Custom Work Open Thread

I am establishing this open thread as a place where you can come specifically to ask me about prices, materials or to start the process of placing an order.

Fire away!

::singing:: Blue snooood!

You left me standing alooooone!

Without a dreeeem in my heaaart!

Without a love of my oooown!

::echo:: Love of my ooown!::/echo::

I made this one because it matches my work uniform, and it makes getting ready sooooo much faster. Instead of brushing my hair, I just pop this on and stuff all of my hair into it..

Photobucket

This one is made of mercerized cotton, and with these exact materials, it would cost about $15 before shipping.

If Only The Lunch Ladies Had Known

My new favorite project: Snoods.

This one is mine, and it was my first one, so I'm pretty impressed at how it came out.

Photobucket

(note: person in pictures is not me but would prefer to remain anonymous)

Photobucket

I believe the material of the snood itself is angora (I can't remember and I can't find the label, sue me)

Photobucket

The flowerlet was made with a scrap of sock yarn, which is PERFECT for small work (and for going blind incidentally)

Photobucket

I crocheted an elastic headband into the brim to finish and to keep the whole shooting match on your head.

This pattern with these exact materials would run about $18 before shipping.

First Real Post!

Okay Ladies and Germs,

Today I will present one of my first custom made pieces. The customer requested a black headband with a red rose accent. the rose needed to be small, not "HEY LOOK AT THIS BIG FLOOFY THING THAT PROVES THIS PERSON IS A GIRLY GIRLY GIRL!"

Photobucket
Here is the complete piece, the headband and rose are black and red acrylic and the leaf is green cotton.

Photobucket
The headband was made with a half-double crochet.

Photobucket
The rose is made with a double crochet.

This order ended up running about $15 before shipping.
